How to become a member of New Hope International Church
"Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” --Romans 12:4–5

As Christians, we are members of God's household (Ephesians 2:19) called to function, participate, and minister in a particular place within the body of Christ. A healthy body requires that each member do its part well. For this reason, New Hope holds its members in high regard.

God, in His sovereignty, placed us in this city, among these people, in this century, for a reason (Acts 17:26–27). New Hope members are servants who are passionate about imitating Jesus and reaching people with His love. Members also serve
within the church: during Sunday services, as small group leaders, as teachers, on prayer teams, offering support to the sick and needy, showing hospitality, and on and on.

Being a member of New Hope is really about being part of a family. Members who enter into a covenant with their local church are called to a higher degree of responsibility and service. At the same time, the elders, pastors and deacons are covenanted to assist members first and foremost, to love and lead, provide counsel and aid, as well as to pray for, teach, and guide.

I want to be a member: What should I do?

1) Become active in church activities. Demonstrate your love for the church by volunteering. Go to the church website (www.newhic.org) to learn about the ways you can serve at New Hope.

2) Make yourself known. Don’t keep your life to yourself. Join Care Group and get with other people to grow together in maturity, leadership, and love.

3) Get on a mission.

If you have more questions about New Hope membership email us at Pastor Caesar Prelow.

What Is Baptism?

Baptism is a visible symbol of God’s saving work within a person. It is the outward sign of belonging to the people of God—those who have repented and put their faith in Jesus Christ.

Who should be baptized?

You should be baptized if these two conditions describe you:
1.        You have repented of your sins and believed on Christ alone for salvation.
2.        You have not already been baptized as a believer by immersion.

How to get baptized at New Hope International Church?
1.        Attend a baptism class. This an hour long class scheduled before the water baptism date.
2.        Meet with your mentor so he/she can help you prepare a testimony for the day of baptism.
3.        Get baptized. Most often, baptisms are held at a local pool.

To begin the process, contact Ps. Caesar Prelow at (206) 275-1042 for more information.

What to expect when getting baptized?

Though there may be some variations, here is the basic schedule of a baptism service:
1.        The pastor meets with baptism candidates at the pool, 10 minutes before the ceremony to talk through the ceremony.
2.        At the beginning of the baptism service, the pastor will give a quick word about baptism.
3.        The pastor will ask the candidates to join him at the front to share their names and why they want to be baptized.
4.        The candidates join the pastor one at a time at the pool.
5.        The pastor will declare the following three statements:
A.      (Candidates name), you have put your in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of your sins and eternal life
B.       You are forsaking Satan and all his works and all his ways?
C.       You intend with God’s help to obey Jesus’ teaching and follow him as your Lord
6.        The pastor will then say these words of baptism and immerse the candidate: “On the profession of your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and in obedience to his command, I now baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
7.        The pastor will pray for each person as they exist the pool
Baptism for young People

A special Baptism procedure should be followed for anyone who is under 10.
Parents of young people (10 and under) should consult with their child before baptism and give permission to go ahead with baptism. If you have questions or a special situation, please contact Ps. Caesar Prelow (206) 275-1042.
